Colorful stones that can be seen in the middle and downstream basin and at the mouth of the Niyodo River are peculiar to the river, which flows through complex geological structures from Mt. Ishizuchi to Tosa Bay. These colorful stones eventually drift to beaches in the central part of Kochi Prefecture, including areas from the mouth of the Niyodo River to Katsurahama Beach.
