The 34-meter-tall Otaru Falls is surrounded by dark greenery, creating a fantastic atmosphere. The name “Otaru (big barrel)” was chosen because the water runs powerfully down the face of the rock formed in granite over 400 million years ago as if water were being poured from a big barrel. You can feel the abundant nature while walking to the waterfall from the parking space for about 15 minutes. The waterfall ranks among the 100 best waterfalls of Japan.
