Bus Entry into the Niyodo River Area
For Travel Agencies
There are many narrow roads including mountain roads in the Niyodo River area, some of which do not allow large vehicles to enter.
Please refer to the following information when planning group bus tours.
Yasui Valley
Access is limited to small buses only.
For large and medium-sized buses, you will need to arrange for a local small bus on Route 439 and transfer to it.
During major holidays and the autumn foliage, return travelers will be asked to use a detour route. Please schedule the trip with enough time allowance.
*For reference: Size of buses that can enter
(Length) Less than 7.0 m
(Width) Less than 2.3m
(Height) Less than 2.8m
Rain coats and comfortable walking shoes are recommended on rainy days, as the area can become slippery.
Nakatsu Gorge
Medium and small buses may enter up to the valley entrance (parking is not allowed).
Large buses may enter the valley entrance if a valley guide has been arranged in advance. However, if the entrance is too crowded for the buses to go up, the guide will contact you in advance.
*Parking is not allowed, so please turn around and head for the Odo Dam heliport.
Note that buses may not be able to enter during busy periods such as autumn foliage season.
In such cases, visitors will be asked to get off at the parking lot along the National Highway and walk up a slope for about 10 minutes one way to the entrance of the gorge. Please understand this in advance.
Rain coats and comfortable walking shoes are recommended on rainy days, as the area can become slippery.
Nikobuchi
Large buses are allowed to enter and park, but are restricted during the following periods when congestion is expected: Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from late July through August, and during major consecutive holidays and peak season such as Golden Week and Silver Week.
Entry of medium and small buses is also restricted during major holidays and peak periods when congestion is expected.
We ask that you refrain from setting up group tours during the period when the restrictions are in place.
The area where buses can park is located near the restrooms, and there is a warning sign at the entrance for bus turnings.
*Nikobuchi is a place cherished by the locals as a sacred place, so we ask that you view the site in silence. Entering the water, eating and drinking are strictly prohibited.
