Ino-cho Paper Museum

The town of Ino, known as a producer of Tosa washi paper originating in the Heian Period (794-1185), is still dotted with paper factories throughout the city. The Ino-cho Paper Museum thoroughly teaches visitors about the long history of Tosa washi paper and the story of materials used to make washi paper such as paper mulberry and paper bush, and tools for making paper. At a section that allows visitors to experience papermaking by hand, they can make colored paper and a postcard and can even experience Nagashi-suki (a special papermaking method) that employs a special technique, on the first Sunday of every month. The souvenir shop, with a varied selection of goods, offers a wide variety of washi paper.
