Seigenji Temple, a place of scenic beauty designated by Kochi Prefecture, is located right by the Seizan Bunko Museum on a hill in the Uemachi district. The temple is the Fukao family’s family temple and belongs to the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect. Beautiful cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall adorn the Zen garden. It is one of the three outstanding gardens in Tosa along with Chikurinji Temple in Kochi City and Jodaiji Temple in Sakawa Town.
