Kiyotakiji Temple is the 35th temple of the Shikoku 88 Pilgrimage. Founded by Gyoki Bosatsu in 723, the temple is said to have been named after a story in which Kobo Daishi, while training at that place, prodded a rock with a pilgrim’s stick called "Kongozue," causing clean water to gush out. The wooden Yakushi Nyorai (Healing Buddha), its main icon, boasts a sublime beauty, and you can go inside another 15-meter-tall Yakushi Nyorai enshrined in the precinct.
