 Sakawa Bunko Kosha

Sakawa Bunko Kosha, a designated town cultural property, is the oldest wooden Western-style house in Kochi Prefecture. It is a pseudo-Western-style public building constructed in 1886, which was initially used as a police station. The hipped roof of the two-story wooden building is covered with Japanese-style pantiles and inherits Tosa’s traditional partitive tiling technique. The white-painted external walls are made of Japanese cedar thick boards and are formed using the German siding method and Western-style finish.
