Mitsuaki Tanaka, who was a patriot from Sakawa Town and then the Minister of the Imperial Household, donated calligraphy and personal belongings left by late patriots that he passionately collected after his retirement from politics to the Sakawa Municipal Seizan Bunko Museum. The museum exhibits documents related to the Meiji Restoration on Ryoma Sakamoto, Shintaro Nakaoka and Zuizan Takechi and documents on the Fukao family, which was the Sakawa’s feudal lord and was the head of the chief retainers of the Tosa Domain in the Edo Period (1603-1867), all of which attract history buffs. Seizan is a pseudonym of Mitsuaki Tanaka.
