The Former Takemura kimono fabrics shop, once called "Marukyu," is a building formally owned by a branch of the Takemura family. In the building constructed at the end of the Edo Period (1603-1868) and the beginning of the Meiji Period (1868-1912), the branch initially ran a pawnshop and then kimono fabrics and grocery shops. At the time of the third Yasushichi, it prospered as the sole silk merchant in western Tosa. The building is now used by Kirin-kan, which runs a grocery shop and a café.
